European Fencing Championships Legnano 2012 | Home

The event aims at a multiplicity of objectives referring first of all to the Fencing discipline and athletes' promotion. We want to increase the public awareness of a sport which is usually called "minor" in terms of diffusion but that is actually the strongest Olympic discipline in Italy with its 114 Olympic medals (update at the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008) and which can boast values ??deeply rooted in its history and tradition. Promote internationalization, local tourism and the Territory, bring the discipline closer to the place traditions are the next steps in a process that could not exist without the energy community of this incredible sport fans.

First of all targets, however, the desire to make athletes and professionals live a unique experience that remains in the memory of those who lived it.

The logo of the European Fencing Championships "Legnano 2012" recalls the shape of medieval hero Alberto da Giussano, symbol of the City, which originally held a shield and a sword cleaves the other hand. In 2012, the European Championships transform the medieval hero in a modern fencer, linking the tradition of the City to the international event that sinks its roots in a so glorious past.
